Introduction:

The virtual lab is a MHRD, Govt. of India initiative. The objective is to make available the component or features or elements of lab based learning through the internet to the students & practicing engineers who may be in the remotest corner of the world (exp-India) but has at least access to the internet. The aim is to improve the quality of education for students attending courses with limited exposure to laboratory experiments to supplement theory classes. The experiments being developed can be used by a teacher to learn as well as compile a lab course or use as supplementary aid by selecting a combination of experiments from different virtual labs.
This particular lab is titled Fading Channels and Mobile CommunicationsVirtual lab which was launched on 26th June 2011. It is being developed by Dr. Suvra Sekhar Das, who is Assistant Professor at IIT Kharagpur. It is being made available at http://www.vlab.co.in/ as Fading Channels and Mobile Communications or directly available at http://fcmcvlab.iitkgp.ac.in/.

Note: To perform experiments browser should be enabled with Java to run Java Applets. To avoid a Java Security Exception, add a url address in Exception site list of Java Control Panel.Help

About Fading Channels and Mobile Communications Virtual Lab:

The Virtual lab Fading channels & Mobile Communications aims to provide supplementary learning aid to post graduate students ,advanced  under graduate students and practicing engineers as well as researchers  in the field of mobile communications engineering where an in depth understanding of the effects of the wireless channel in a land mobile terrestrial propagation condition is essential. The motivation for developing the content on this subject is that it very important to understand the characteristics of attenuation in order to design & analyze problem for mobile communication engineering.
The lab contains ten experiments which span the domain of signal attenuation characteristic and mobile communication system design. (The content is available without any cost as the development cost is borne by MHRD Govt. of India).

Although most of the experiments are self sufficient, yet some of the experiments models are best utilized when adopted as a class assignment /lab exercise by a teacher. The teacher can make an experiment very specific by limiting parameter values and set or more objectives using the same experimental set you.
Finally we would humbly like to submit that we welcome all suggestions which can be mailed to us: vls5fcmc@gmail.com
